Magpie Mondays {Wrenching My Way to Happiness

via

Wrenching My Way to Happiness

In a world I like the least
is where I consistently find myself,
seeking for reasons to sip my morning coffee,
thinking of fluffy sheep jumping over a daisy
as I lay my head on my pillow.

Struggling to make days work,
molding my cobblestone path,
working on whatever it is
that needs to be wrenched.
Sweat and boredom, mixed and stirred.

I work for my dreams,
I know what are they, though vague and shallow,
I still pray deeply at night
That my carefully laid out gears,
would work for me someday.

Magpie Modays {A Couch Too Big for One}

A Couch Too Big for One

The dame has been in this scenario for quite some time,
quite forlorn,
unbounded freedom,
mostly unaccompanied.

The space seems too vast for her fragility,
it eats her up,
too vexing,
breeds out a deafening monotony.

Casually, someone would sit for tea,
and she smiles,
elevated happiness,
and temporary highs.

In her mind, she grips his wrist,
tightly,
forcefully,
lovingly.

But, she snaps back to reality,
he went
and sat
on another red couch.

And she casually brushed her way to the couch's middle,
sipped her tea,
inhaled deeply,
and bit her tea-stained lip.

Magpie Mondays {That Lip Lock}

That Lip Lock

I'll pick forehead kisses over french ones,
cuddling and hugs over groping.

I'd like it if you'll cover me up with our blanket
even if I laid beside you in my undies.
(Breaking Dawn scene)

But, I wouldn't mind spiderman lip locks once in a while,
as long as you'll kiss me like a floating feather.

Magpie Mondays {Chairs and White Dresses}

Chairs and White Dresses

I'm finally walking away,
I finally mustered up all the courage to be alone.

With my made-up dream with you all broken,
like empty chairs scattered on the green fields.

But, I'll never be afraid to look back.
Never, if it means abandoning the man that I've always loved

And will always love.
It'll still be you and me, only different.

Magpie Mondays {42 Teacups}

42 Teacups

Those moments before dusk,
when the full moon is clearly revealing herself,
I host a tea party.

In the middle of the bloomfields,
where wilted flowers, tied with brown laces
still stood upright to join us.

The three ladies of Grace Adieu --
Cassandra, Miss Tobias and  Mrs Field,
as far away as they could.

From Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell,
who were intently discussing some magic tricks,
which they would work on afterwards.

Miranda, feels the pile of flax
with her weak, little hands.
She sits near the middle, five empty pie plates beside her.

I guess even the ants would waver
to the sweetness at the sight of
Venetia and Captain Fox, who are madly in love as ever.

When everybody has finished their tea
down to the last drop,
they all left without a word.

And I poured the dainty cream pot over.
I stirred and sipped,
Sipped and stirred again.

*Inspired by the Magpie Tales.

The fictional characters that I had tea with are from Susanna Clarke's The Ladies of Grace Adieu and other stories.

Alone and Waiting

Alone and Waiting
on a cold, dark, rainy day

Raindrops hit my roof,
and it sent subtle sounds to my ears.
Alone, I lay lazily on my foamed airbed,
thinking of the earlier phone call.

My heart was set ablaze,
before my hands had the courage to dial.
Then, as I spoke, the excitement
in my voice betrayed me of what I truly felt.

I patiently waited,
thinking of nothing, but you.
I knew you'd come.
You'd come a midst the heavy rain.

The doorbell revealed your presence.
My heart skipped with joy.
My stomach rumbled.
My mouth began to salivate.

As I gave you the exact change,
you showed me your perfect smile,
"Five Cheese Pizza Delivery".
And there was a sun on my rainy day.

Thank you, Mister Delivery Boy for battling the rain.

Notes:
The title would have been Alone, Hungry and Waiting, but that would give everything away. Lol. Hope you enjoyed this. :)

One Pre-Long Distance Relationship Evening

One Pre-Long Distance Relationship Evening

I could hear nothing but the crickets.
It's this time of the night that I am alive.

Not tonight, though.
He's with me, but not tonight.

I could hear nothing but my hearbeat.
It's one of these moments that it goes faster.

Not this time, though.
He's beside me, but not this time.

I could hear nothing but the loneliness in his voice.
It's a voice that could feather-tickle my heart.

Not this voice, though.
He's speaking, but not in that voice.

*This was a poetry prompt from Magpie Tales.

Magpie Mondays { Flamboyance in the Air}

Flamboyance in the Air

I'm on a high.
Thankful that the world can see me.

Grateful that the world can see me.

Unguarded.
Free flowing.
Proud.
Varied.
And light.

How sweet it is
to let every fiber inside me
go afloat,
soaring,
yearning,
sashaying.

I am myself.
At long last.

Magpie Mondays {The Judgmental Guard}

The Judgmental Guard
and his metal detector

You say I'm a no brainer,
with a light and happy 'tude.
You say I'm just a rich girl,
with plenty of swipes and maids.

You say I get so tipsy
after a half-shot of tequila.
You say I'm just somebody
That you can just push around.

Well, you are just like security,
who hit me with that scanner,
slowly from head to toe,
with traces of pretense.

I passed by once,
and that was your only chance.

You let me through,
and I slipped in.
Easily. Swiftly.

I swallowed the weed.
I have a micro chip bomb.

I can destroy your territory.
But I chose the other option.

Magpie Mondays {From Goblets to Starbucks Plastic Cups}

From Goblets to Starbucks Plastic Cups

Just because I had a nightcap at Starbucks an hour ago...

THEN

Around the table, they sat,
all formal and stiff.
Women on curvy corsets,
and men on top hats and tails.
Goblets and silver spoons
are their tools of attack,
while organic soft music
escapes the strings of the rebec.

NOW

Around the table, they sat,
all cool and comfy.
Women on tank tops,
and men on board shorts and slippers.
Plastic cups with cafe logos
are their symbols of superiority,
while pumping club music
spills out from the iPod speakers.

Magpie Mondays {Dusty, but Golden}

Dusty, but Golden

And now, I'm tangled up in a yarn,
Pulled back into my yesterday's lair.
Where the moon is my mother,
And the brown, crisp pages are my blissful poison.
